"Tru Calling" fell from the sky as far as I'm concerned", bemuses Josephine, "Ward Hake, at Fox Music, had approached We3Kings about writing the theme song for the Tru Calling television show several months ago and the guys approached me about having the band perform the song and I said let's do It!" The song entitled "Can Somebody Help Me" was written in Nashville, recorded in New Jersey and finished and mixed in L.A. “The song definitely has the FBR edge! It totally rocks!" added Josephine.
It was Thursday, March 4 and the band was filming their first video for the song, which debuted on Fox in March 2004. The set was an abandoned hospital in East L.A. and the camera crew was following Josephine's every move as she prances around 3 inches of filthy water, several levels down in the building. "It's pretty creepy down here," explains Josephine, "As I stood there, waiting for someone to yell 'Action', a cold feeling enveloped my body, making the hair on the back of my neck stand on end, but I think it totally put me into character! Pretty strange, huh?" she says. |
Earlier in the day, Josh was literally hanging around. He wore a harness and was suspended for two hours from a main pipe above in the clerestory boiler room. "It was unbearable at one point!" winced Josh. "I didn’t know how much longer I could hang there, but I knew the final footage was going to be killer!" Earlier in the day, Josh and Josephine were roaming around the old psyche wards, hoping to have a supernatural encounter, being they had heard the place was haunted. Luckily, most people would think, they were unsuccessful.
Directed by Grammy award winner, Meiert Avis, the video contains "some of the best footage I've shot in my career" explained Meiert the very next day to Music heads at Fox, Geoff Bywater and Jacquie Perryman, "and Josephine is an absolute star!" he added. "That was great to hear!" exclaimed Josephine, being that she had just heard from her job that she was fired for missing work the day of the shoot!
Eager and ready, the band is gearing itself up for an exciting year." We are currently finishing up our record and looking into several tours around the country. Looks like this rose is finally blooming!" winks Josephine.
